Per debaxo la ponte
Ya nun pasaba l'aire,
Que l'agua fexo'l camín
Abandonando'l valle.
Y sentí al fríu nordés,
Sí, como llora l'aire,
Como los nenos nel mar
Ente suaños de sable.
Siempre veré
Tres de la mar
La casa gris
Na señaldá.
Siempre taré
Cao del mio llar
Na casa gris
Del mio cantar.
Al mirar morrer el sol
Na cumbrera del puertu,
Vi soledá nel camín
Mientres durmía'l vientu.
Siempre veré
Tres de la mar
La casa gris
Na señaldá.
Siempre taré
Cao del mio llar
Na casa gris
Del mio cantar.
Al final nun hai camín
Que lleve'l sol a casa.
Queda namái soledá
Naquella ingrata patria.
Siempre veré
Tres de la mar
La casa gris
Na señaldá.
Siempre taré
Cao del mio llar
Na casa gris
Del mio cantar.
Siempre veré
Tres de la mar
La casa gris
Na señaldá.
Siempre taré
Cao del mio llar
Na casa gris
Del mio cantar.
Per debaxo la ponte
Ya nun pasaba l'aire,
Que l'agua fexo'l camín
Abandonando'l valle.
The lyrics in Llan de Cubel's song La casa gris tell the story of a feeling of nostalgia associated with a specific location. The singer describes a time and place where there was a bridge where the air no longer passed through and how the water diverted its course, leaving the valley abandoned. The cold northern wind is personified as crying like children lost at sea. The singer then says that they will always see the gray house by the sea, which serves as a landmark, and that they will always be close to it, calling it their home, and their source of inspiration.
As the sun sets on the ridge of the port, the singer sees loneliness on the path while the wind sleeps. The singer expresses that there is no longer a road that leads the sun home, and that only loneliness remains in that ungrateful country. Again, the singer repeats that they will always see the gray house by the sea, and that it will always be their home and the subject of their songs.
Overall, the song conveys a sense of attachment to a specific place, the longing for the past, and the comfort that a home or landmark can bring to the human experience.
Per debaxo la ponte
Underneath the bridge
Ya nun pasaba l'aire,
There was no more air flowing
Que l'agua fexo'l camín
The water made its way
Abandonando'l valle.
Abandoning the valley
Y sentí al fríu nordés,
And I felt the cold north wind
Sí, como llora l'aire,
Yes, how the air cries
Como los nenos nel mar
Like children in the sea
Ente suaños de sable.
Between dreams of sand
Siempre veré
I will always see
Tres de la mar
Three by the sea
La casa gris
The gray house
Na señaldá.
As a landmark
Siempre taré
I will always be
Cao del mio llar
At the doorstep of my home
Na casa gris
The gray house
Del mio cantar.
Of my song
Al mirar morrer el sol
When watching the sun die
Na cumbrera del puertu,
On the port's peak
Vi soledá nel camín
I saw loneliness on the road
Mientres durmía'l vientu.
While the wind was sleeping
Al final nun hai camín
In the end, there's no path
Que lleve'l sol a casa.
That leads the sun home
Queda namái soledá
Only loneliness remains
Naquella ingrata patria.
In that ungrateful homeland
